LECONFIELD PROJECT From Thursday 17th May and on each ‘Third Thursday’ in the month, the Leconfield Project started hosting a series of community events in St Peter's Church Hall, Bowness Avenue, Sompting. From 12.30pm to 3.00pm the hall is a centre for the elderly of our community. A number of our partner agencies are available for consultation and advice. Partner agencies include Age Concern, Citizens Advice Service and the Pension Service. We will also have a Qualified Chiropodist in attendance. We anticipate that other agencies will also wish to base some of their outreach services at this venue. Refreshments will be available. All are welcome. From 4.00pm until 5.00pm we have an After-School Club, and from 5.00p, to 6.00pm an Adult education session. Funding for the hall hire for the next six months has been kindly donated by Sussex Police. As a group, we are actively seeking for several of our community with either the skills already, or willing to be trained, to be the Coordinator/s for these afternoons. It is hoped that the success of these afternoons will allow us to introduce further sessions in the hall in the future. This Coordinator role may well develop into the Community Centre Manager post when our own Community Centre in Leconfield Road is built. We also will need a Qualified Youth Worker or similar and some assistants, to run the After-School Club sessions.
