RUBBISH & RECYLCING

Adur District Council are the local authority responsible for domestic waste collection, and they provide a weekly service. This is a "back-door" collection for most properties, although there are some exceptions to this rule. Since April 2002, rather than "catching up" after bank holidays, the service "slips" a day for each holiday day.

Most properties also enjoy a "blue-box" collection service. This service is fortnightly, and is a kerb-side service, and again the collection day slips after every bank holiday.

There is a County Council waste recycling and transfer station at the top of Halewick Lane in Sompting, which can take most domestic waste, including garden, car batteries, oil, CFC's, household appliances, furniture. The site is open Monday - Saturday (including bank holidays) 9am - 5pm, and Sundays 9am - 12 noon.

There are also a number of "Mini Recycling Centres" which accept Glass, Cans, Newspapers/Magazines and Plastic bottles. These are located at:
